WP 2 will be focused on the design, preparation and characterization of functional and tailor‐made tissue engineering scaffolds suitable for bone regeneration. The produced scaffolds will be structurally assessed to determine the accuracy of the method to reproduce internal architecture based on triply periodic minimal surfaces (TPMS) using a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and µ‐Computer Tomography (µCT). The effect of mechanical properties on cellular behaviour in terms of morphology, motility and osteogenic differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells (hMSCs) will be investigated. The osteogenic differentiation will be quantified in vitro by monitoring some early and late markers at different incubation times in basal and osteogenic media. In order to ensure measurable healthcare and economic impacts as the outcome of the research activity, the technology originated at CNR‐DSCTM will be validated at China‐based SME Medprin.
