Queen Mary Innovation Ltd, one of the MSCA-RISE-2017 project (grant agreement No 734391) partner recently hosted a visit in London to facilitate knowledge exchange in innovation, robotics research and development of security sector (via video analysis) and technology transfer training areas. The delegation was led by the Shanghai Technology and Innovation Centre (SHTIC) who is also the Horizon project partner. The delegation was consisted of several organisations including public sector Science and Technology Commission of Shanghai Municipal, SHTIC and Shanghai Co-Way International Technology Transfer Centre. A research institute Shanghai Institute of Technical Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and a SME Shanghai SENSORO Technology Co. Ltd also participated the visit and exchange.
The delegate visited the Advanced Robotics Lab hosted by two researchers from the Queen Mary University of London, where they demonstrated several live robotic projects to the delegate.
Visiting agenda:
Manyi Cristofoli, Director of ICUK from QMI gave an introduction of innovation and technology transfer activities of QMI and outlined activities ICUK do in the University, followed by Dr Ildar Farkhatdinov and Dr Lorenzo Jamone for the Robotic research activities and projects in the Centre of Advanced Robotics at Queen Mary University of London. Robert Koger, Executive Director of Vision Semantics Limited gave an introduction of their world class development of video analysis technology in CCTV and joint venture activities with their partners in China and other countries. Praxis AURIL also joined the Shanghai delegation and introduced what they do in China and how they operate as a non-profit organisation in supporting the needs for technology transfer training in China.
Following up for the Shanghai delegation visit, one the likely activities will be a return exchange visit in Shanghai and exploitation of some collaboration opportunities in October this year when CNR will hold an exchange workshop there in Shanghai.
